Forest restoration of degraded areas of permanent preservation (APPDs) represents an enormous challenge due to the large amount of degraded areas, but also an opportunity to establish ecological corridors. The probability of success and the costs of restoring APPDs are influenced by many factors such as the level of degradation, the history of occupation and landscape context. This latter can be measured through remote sensing and geoprocessing techniques. Thus, it can be considered a valuable approach to spatially plan the forest restoration actions. In this study we present an approach to prioritize the restoration of APPDs in three municipalities of the northern region of Mato Grosso state. The prioritization is based on the graph theory, and we used the Integral Index of Connectivity (IIC), more specifically the IICflux and IICconnector fractions to estimate the potential contribution of the restored APPDs to biological flow or to create new connection on the landscape, and consequently representing greater potential for restoration success and lower cost of implementation. We considered three species dispersal capabilities, equivalent to 100, 250 and 400 meters as a criterion to measure landscape connectivity. We identified 30,683 APPDs, totaling 24,126 hectares, and only 5,133 APPDs were considered as priority. It was observed that 1,003 of these priorities APPDs showed high values of importance both for creating new the landscape connections and to potential biological flow, totaling 6,779 hectares (28% of the total).
